Shimamoto Hakata Hankyu Store
Shimamoto Hakata Hankyu Store is a directly managed retail shop operated by Shimamoto, a mentaiko specialty store founded in 1976. It is located on the B1 floor of Hakata Hankyu and is known as one of the leading mentaiko shops in Fukuoka and Hakata. While many makers use imported roe, Shimamoto carefully selects only domestically produced Alaska pollock roe, said to account for less than 10% of what circulates on the market. It uses no coloring and stays committed to a traditional method in which each piece is finished by hand.
The mentaiko is really fragrant, and it’s not overly salty. It goes amazingly well with white rice. You can tell the quality of the mentaiko itself is good instead of just tasting salty.

Utopia Farm Miyakojima
A tourist farm located Approx. 10 minutes by car from Miyako Airport. Around 50 bougainvillea plants gathered from around the world are grown in greenhouses, where you can enjoy their vivid blooms year-round. Other highlights include rare varieties of hibiscus and orchards bearing tropical fruits such as mangoes, papayas, and bananas.
This place is mainly about tropical fruits and plants, like mangoes, papayas, and passion fruit.
If you come in the right season, you can see the trees loaded with fruit, and the whole scene feels really soothing. The staff were also quite friendly and gave simple explanations without making it feel pressured. -
Himakajima Higashihama Beach (Sunrise Beach)
Located on Himakajima, a remote island in Minamichita, Chita District, Aichi Prefecture, Higashihama Beach, known as "Sunrise Beach," is accessible in Approx. 10 minutes by high-speed ferry from Morozaki Port. It got its name from the unobstructed view of the sunrise directly ahead, and the calm shoreline stretching along the island’s eastern tip is also called "the original landscape of Himakajima."
The sand is clean and fine, and the water is pretty clear too.
Since it faces east, you can catch an amazingly beautiful sunrise in the morning, and the atmosphere feels really romantic.
It’s also not as crowded as beaches in big cities, so it’s comfortable for swimming or just taking a walk. A great place to relax on vacation.
