The entire pottery village retains a simple, natural feel. Walking around doesn't feel like browsing an ordinary shopping mall, but more like strolling through a small Okinawan village. Looking at the workshops and pottery along the way really gives you the feeling of traveling.

Udatsu Townscape
Wakimachi in Mima City was established as a castle town during the Sengoku period and developed in the mid-Edo period as a distribution center for indigo, which was widely produced at the time. The townscape, with traces of the early modern and modern eras, stretches for approx. 400 m and creates a distinctive atmosphere. The town still has 85 residences built from the mid-Edo period to the early Showa period, mainly from the Meiji period.
Udatsu Old Street has a more quiet, low-key feel. It’s not the kind of lively tourist area you might expect, and that’s exactly why it preserves such an authentic historic atmosphere.
The white walls on both sides and the distinctive “udatsu” roof ridges really stand out. If you look closely, you can see they were actually a symbol of wealth in the past.

Kishimojin-do
Kishimojin-do is a temple that worships “Shiboshin,” a god for safe childbirth and also child rearing. The line of zelkova trees along the path that leads to the temple from the Kishibojinmae stop is designated as one of Tokyo’s natural monuments. A must-see within the temple’s grounds is a huge gingko tree approximately 700 years old.
The area is really quiet and peaceful. It feels like you’ve stepped away from the city.

Minato Mirai 21
JR Sakuragicho Station, Japan’s first train station, is the gate to Minato Mirai. Coming out of the station, you will see a futuristic cityscape such as the 296m-tall Yokohama Landmark Tower and the ferris wheel Cosmo Clock 21. In 2021, the urban 630m-long ropeway, YOKOHAMA AIR CABIN, was opened, connecting the former railway and the Unga-Park Station.
It feels like a more upscale mix of Tamsui + Xinyi District.
Kind of boring during the day—nighttime is where it really comes alive.
