There are shops selling buns and shumai everywhere. When I got thirsty, I bought a bubble tea to try, but the pearls were too hard. The texture is really different from what you get in Taiwan.

Amagi Park
A park developed to make the most of the rich natural surroundings of Mt. Amagi, which rises 123 meters in northern Omuta City. From the park on gently elevated hills, visitors can take in sweeping views of the Ariake Sea and, in the distance, Mt. Unzen Fugendake. Loved by locals as an easy hiking spot, it is also a great place to enjoy sunsets over the Ariake Sea and night views of downtown Omuta.
A park locals come to for a walk. It’s not big, but it feels very relaxing.
There are cherry blossoms in spring, and it’s quite pretty when they’re in bloom. Most of the time, though, it’s really quiet, which makes it a nice place to take a slow walk and clear your head.
There aren’t any especially exciting facilities, so it’s better for people who just want to sit, rest, and enjoy the scenery. If you’re passing by or staying nearby, it’s worth stopping in, but it’s probably not something you need to set aside a lot of time for. -
Gojo River Cherry Blossom Promenade
The Gojo River rises in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture, and flows through towns and cities in Aichi Prefecture such as Oguchi Town, Konan City, and Iwakura City. Around Iwakura City, it runs through the urban area, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of Approx. 1,300 cherry trees in full bloom lining both riverbanks for Approx. 7.6 km. In Iwakura City, the “Iwakura Cherry Blossom Festival” is held every year from late March to early April to coincide with cherry blossom season. At night, the trees are illuminated, and the fully blooming cherry blossoms glowing in the dark are breathtaking.
So romantic! Cherry trees line both sides of the river, creating a long pink-and-white sakura tunnel. Walking through it feels totally dreamy.
When the flowers are in full bloom in spring, the petals drift onto the water and the whole scene is insanely beautiful. It’s also perfect for photos.
It does get crowded, but the vibe is lively. Definitely worth making a special trip for. -
gashacoco Ikebukuro
Just about a 2-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station, “gashacoco Ikebukuro” is a specialty shop dedicated to capsule toys. With a sales floor of about 150 tsubo (about 495 m²), it boasts around 1,500 capsule toy vending machines. The lineup spans a wide range of genres, including anime characters, Heisei retro, and food motifs.
This place is seriously so much fun! There are entire walls packed with capsule toy machines, and the variety is just wild—anime characters, figures, and even some super quirky stuff. Once you walk in, you can't help but want to try a few. The space isn't huge, but the vibe is lively and it's great for photos too. If you're into capsule toys, you have to add this to your Ikebukuro plans—it's super relaxing!
