Details on the Route from Shinjuku to Mount Fuji (the Yoshida Trail)

The trailhead (the start) of the Yoshida trail is the Fuji-Subaru Line 5th Station, the terminal of the Fuji-Subaru Line.

Take the Fujikyuko Line at Shinjuku

If you set out from Shinjuku, you can take the JR Chuo Main Line, change at Otsuki Station for the Fujikyuko Line, and then change at Fujisan Station or Kawaguchiko Station for a mountain bus to the Fuji-Subaru Line 5th Station. By the way, the 26.6 km long Fujikyuko Line enjoy a magnificent view of Mount Fuji.

Take an Expressway Bus Directly to the Fuji-Subaru Line 5th Station

Alternatively, you can take a bus at Shinjuku Station; the bus, only available during the climbing season, can take you directly to the Fuji-Subaru Line 5th Station and is very convenient. You need not change, but a trip on an expressway bus might be tedious.

The hourly buses normally run between 10:00 and 20:00 from early July to early September. Although they fall into Fujikyu buses and Keio buses, you need not worry as their routes and fares are the same. A one-way ticket is priced at 2,700 yen and you can wait for the bus at Busta Shinjuku, a bus terminal near the South Exit of Shinjuku Station.

It shall be noted that, Mount Fuji is hugely popular during the climbing season, when quite a few tourists choose to start from Shinjuku. Hence you are recommended to reserve a seat or check the availability of seating at the website before departure.
