An American chocolate specialty store, Green Bean to Bar CHOCOLATE, has come to Fukuoka. This company has won a gold medal at the Northwest Chocolate Festival, the largest such event in the world! They've opened 2 shops in Japan: Fukuoka and Tokyo.

The "bean to bar" in the shop's name indicates the whole process of creating chocolate from cacao beans. It takes about 45 days of work to get the chocolate to the storefront.

There are samples to taste.

Find your favorite by tasting the samples.

They offer a wide variety of chocolate bars.
The only ingredients are organic sugar and cacao beans sourced from around the world.
Depending on the origin of the cacao beans, the taste changes dramatically. It's so deep!

The package is made of washi paper.

Starting from ¥1620 each, the chocolate bars are pricey, but they sell out now and then.

It's a gift that is sure to delight!

With a cafe on the premises, you can enjoy chocolate in the shop!

Another nice feature of this shop is the attached cafe.
Besides chocolate bars, they also sell cakes, cookies and bread made with chocolate.
What's more, they even offer alcohol, and it's open until 9:00 pm!

Their chocolate is as beautiful as jewelry, making it so hard to choose!

A tasting set of chocolate bonbons is offered at a bargain.
From the left are cacao nibs, Nativo, Mikan, Almond and Mandian Milk chocolates.

The differences among these chocolates is expressed in their flavors, textures and how they melt on the tongue.
These bonbons are completely different from the chocolate sold in supermarkets! Not too sweet, I was impressed with their nice aftertaste.
The finely ground roasted cacao beans on the far left are cacao nibs. With a pleasant aroma and acidity, they are perfect for cleansing the palate.

Nativo is made with a ganache of Peruvian cacao beans.
Mikan is a blend of Madagascar and Peruvian milk chocolate filled with a mandarin orange purée.

Almond is a milk chocolate filled with caramelized almonds. I like its crunchy texture the best!
Mandian Milk is a milk chocolate topped with nuts and dried fruit.

There are 3 flavors to choose from. The Original chocolate drink tastes slightly of coffee.
You can select hot or iced chocolate.
It's as rich as drinking chocolate itself!
My fatigue has flown away!

I recommend sitting at the counter.

A window stretching along the counter lets you watch their work in progress.
In the thoroughly cleaned kitchen, everything you see is gleaming!

The Tokyo shop is so popular that you have to line up to get in, but the Fukuoka location is less crowded so it's more comfortable.
For a snack break during your travels in Fukuoka, I highly recommend this shop!
