In the northern part of Gifu Prefecture lies a region called Hida. Speaking of Hida, the doll named Sarubobo is a famous product. In the souvenir shops, many treats and sundry goods designed with the Sarubobo logo line the shelves. I received a cookie called "The Cute Legend of Sarubobo" from a friend.

From long ago, Sarubobo, meaning "monkey baby", have been known as dolls from the Hida region. They serve as amulets to protect people from illness.

Usually, Sarubobo are depicted without faces, but this product features a perfect face drawn like a costumed mascot character.

The individually wrapped cookies feature the same illustration as the package.

Is that a real Sarubobo!? Although the design is slightly awkward, it melts my heart.

There's even a Sarubobo on the back! Lol!
Since they aren't printed, each cookie seems to have its own character.
This treat is sure to bring harmony to your snack time!

This product is now on sale at souvenir shops in the Hida-Takayama area!
It's not really a major item, but I can't hate the face of these Sarubobo cookies, so please look for them when you are in Hida!
