Last update :

Fugaku Wind Cave surrounded by lush greenery is one of the largest natural caves among the many lava caves located in the Aokigahara Jukai(sea of trees). It is a horizontal hole with a total length of 201 meters and height of 8.7 meters, and visitors are able to walk through in about 15 minutes. The inside of the cave is cool even in summer, and the average temperature is 3 degrees Celsius. Until the early Showa period, it was a natural refrigerator used to store silkworm eggs and was designated as a national natural treasure.

The basaltic of the wall has the character of absorbing sound, and since the sound does not reverberate inside, creating a mysterious space. On the tour course, you can see icicles that do not melt even in summer, lava shelves, and ropy lava.

The store "Mori no Eki Fuuketsu" offers a wide variety of famous standard confectioneries and original products from Yamanashi and Shizuoka. Koshu wine, Yamanashi’s sake, local sake and shochu are also recommended as souvenirs.
