Tanabe Ogigahama Beach (Ogigahama Park)

Just as the name Ogigahama suggests, the beach is in the pretty shape of an open fan. Every summer, the only swimming beach in Tanabe City opens and many visitors set up their parasols under the blue sky here.

The water quality is crystal clear. Family Beach is their concept and they have set up an excellent environment where families with small children can relax. It is conveniently located a few minutes from JR Kii-Tanabe Station. You can use the beach house for free that has restrooms, a locker room, and showers (hot shower 100 yen for 3 min). The parking lot for 400 vehicles is very reasonable. (the 1st hour is free, then 100 yen/hour)

When it is not in the swimming season, many citizens prefer to come here for a break. Within the park, there is a jogging course for active users. There are Commemorative rocks for the natural historian Minakata Kumagusu and the lyric writer Ujo Noguchi that tourists with historical interests often come to see.

This is one of the one hundred sites chosen by Wakayama prefecture for the beauty of sunrise and sunset. The ocean scenery with the sunset is just perfect.
