Chushin

Enjoy the freshness of seasonal fish at this back-alley fishmonger's eatery.

Last update :

Chushin has long been serving seafood in one of the back allies near Oarai Port, a base for neighborhood fishermen. The restaurant is owned by "Uochu," a long-established fish store, and all ingredients in the menu guarantee its freshness. Most of the ingredients are purchased from the Oarai and Nakaminato fishing ports, and only the best-conditioned live fish are collected.

The majority of restaurant’s customers order sushi. Each piece of sushi here is individually seasoned, making it fine to enjoy without soy sauce. The fish selected for the sushi pieces change with the seasons, and the difference in color and luster is obvious from the moment the sushi arrives. The price is also surprisingly low, starting at 1,320 yen for 8 pieces.

For lunch, try the simple but delicious Kaisen-don (bowl of rice topped with seafood) starting at 1,540 yen. The menu also changes depending on availability, but many attractive dishes are always prepared, such as rice topped with pickled bonito and tuna; as well as rice topped with two kinds of popular items, called half-don. Also, the anglerfish hot pot, available only in fall and winter, starts at 3,300 yen.

The interior of the restaurant is furnished in a modern Japanese style. Enjoy fresh and delicious food in a sophisticated atmosphere that stands out from the rest of the neighborhood.
