This market is the birthplace of “Nokkedon” (Nokke Bowl), where orders can be customized by placing your favorite fish over rice. The fish served is caught straight from Mutsu Bay, and sent straight to the market. Other than seafood, omelets and seafood miso soup made by local grannies is a speciality.

Other favorites include processed Aomori specialities such as Nebutazuke pickles and herring slices. There are other take home souvenirs other than Nokke Don ingredients, so make sure to check those out.

The market is accessible easily, only a 5 minute walk from Aomori Station. If you arrive by car, make sure to use the nearby parking lot since there is not a dedicated one at the market. Due to regulations, the Nokkedon is not available to go, use the dedicated resting area to eat.
