The park combined with Rikuchu‐kaigan National Park, Minamisanriku Kinkasan Quasi-National Park, and the others was named with wish of reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred in 2011 and with aim of transmission of the damages from one generation to the next.

Iwaisaki located on Sanriku Fukko National Park Nanbu is a scenery spot providing a grandstand view of the sea. There are many unique highlights, for example, Shiofuki-iwa blows water by wave motion and air pressure when a wave comes, Ryunomatsu is a pine tree damaged by Tsunami and the shape looks like a dragon. A path is equipped and leads to the seashore where many family visitors spend a great time at low tide in Summer.

Iwaisaki used to be flourished as a salt field administered by the Sendai clan. Iwaisaki Salt Making Center in Kesennuma Hashikami Tourist Information Center provides an experience course of making salt in one coin. The taste and amount of salt are different depending on the person who made it.
