Last update :

This metal casting company was established in 1916 in Takaoka City which has developed as a casting town for over 400 years. Earlier, they made teaware, Buddhist ceremonial ware, vases, etc. but lately they are expanding into interior goods. Their tableware made of 100% tin, the first in the world, are attracting domestic and international attention to their technology and designs.

There is a factory tour for you to watch the traditional craftsmanship with a guide, and the popular metal casting workshop for you to experience making a cast. In the raw casting method, sand is pressed together to make a cast for tin cups, plates, trays, etc. You get involved in making a cast, polishing, and engraving a mark the same way the pros process. They offer two courses - 30-min course for elementary children and older, and 90-min. course for middle schoolers and older. The hot tin is poured into the cast by the staff in both courses, and you can take the finished creation home with you.

There is a cafe where food is served on the tinware made by Nousaku. Enjoy light meals, sweets, lunch, afternoon tea, etc.
