Nyuto Onsenkyo
Hot spring resort raved by onsen fans.
Nyuto-Onsenkyo refers to all hot springs at the foot of Mt. Nyuto in Towada-Hachimantai National Park. Namely, Tsurunoyu, Tae no yu, Kuroyu, Ganiba, Magoroku, Okama, and National Park Resort Village Nyuto-Onsenkyo. The seven onsen lodgings nestled in the beech primeval forest are touted by many fans as hidden treasures with natural beauty, quaint inns, and quality opaque water.
Tsurunoyu Onsen, with the longest history, is like the pronoun of Nyuto-Onsenkyo. Akita Domain’s lord used to stay in the main building with the thatched roof which remains to this day as an inn. There are four source springs and it is famous for the outdoor hot spring for men & women with white opaque water.
The quality of spring water is different at each inn. Tae no yu Onsen with Golden Water, the khaki opaque water, Kuroyu Onsen, the outdoor hot spring surrounded by wild nature, Magoroku Onsen called the “medicine water in the mountain,” Ganiba Onsen named after freshwater crabs, Okama Onsen converted from a school building, and the National Park Resort Village Nyuto-Onsenkyo equipped with modern facilities. Enjoy each charm.
