Saga Prefectural Nagoya Castle Museum

Hizen Nagoya Castle was built as a base for Toyotomi Hideyoshi's invasion of the continent.

The castle started construction in 1591, and was completed in just a few months. More than 150 Jins (camps) of feudal lords from all over Japan are scattered around the area. The castle was the headquarters of Hideyoshi for 7 years after the invasion began in 1592, until the death of Hideyoshi and the escape of Daimyo’s.

The castle and camp remains are the largest group of castle fortifications in Japan, and are designated as Special Historic Site "Nagoya Castle Ruins and Jin Ruins". In the museum adjacent to the castle ruins exhibits various documents related to the castle, and the history of exchange between Japan and the Korean peninsula.
