Last update :

The zoo is located at the foot of Mt. Kyō, not far from JR Okayama Station. Visitors can interact with adorable animals in the lush green park that takes advantage of the mountain terrain.

The most popular animal at the Ikeda Zoo is “Sun”, a white tiger that newly joined the zoo in 2019. With only about 40 of them being bred in Japan, this is a rare sight to see. In addition, about 100 other species of animals are kept at the zoo, including reticulated giraffes, lions, Grant's zebras, red pandas, flamingos, and Magellanic penguins.

Many events are held to allow visitors to interact with animals. Visitors can feed capybaras, penguins, and black bears, ride ponies, and interact with rabbits and chicks at the petting zoo.

In addition, the "Night Zoo”, which is open from daytime to nighttime, is also popular.
