The Ryujinkyo Gorge is located in Okukuji Prefectural Nature Park, in Ibaraki prefecture. The “Ryujin Suspension Bridge” is laid atop the Ryujin dam that flows through the Ryujin River within the gorge. This bridge is 375m long, and is one of Japan’s longest pedestrian only suspension bridges.

The space between the water and the bridge is 100m tall, making it a perfect place to take in a panoramic view of the surrounding nature. From late April to mid-May, is the “Ryujinkyo Koinobori (Carp Streamer) Festival”, where 1000 carp streamers (banner) glaze the sky. In August is the “Ryujinkyo Fuurin Festival” where 1000 wind chimes (Fuurin) play their melodies to cool down the atmosphere. In Autumn, visitors can enjoy Autumn leaves while in Winter, they can take in a snow-filled wonderland. Both the view atop the bridge and the bridge itself with nature as a backdrop are beautiful sights.

Visitors can enjoy a bungee jump experience on the bridge, to the lake surface. This 100m free fall dive is more thrilling and exciting than expected, earning repeaters. The “Ryujin Carillon”, 3 bells that represent Love, Hope, and Happiness is located at the end of the suspension bridge, making it a popular destination for couples.
