Kasama Geijutsu no Mori Park
A delightful community where traditional crafts meet plastic arts.
Known as a hub for sharing Ibaraki’s new culture under the theme of “traditional crafts and new plastic arts,” this park covers a total area of 54.6 hectares and features six main facilities. The Ibaraki Ceramic Art Museum, which brings together highly artistic ceramic works by Living National Treasures, is a popular spot with nationwide recognition.
Also worth checking out are the Event Plaza & Outdoor Concert Plaza, which hosts major events such as Kasama Himatsuri during Golden Week, the forest-themed outdoor play area Asobi no Mori with its long slide as the main attraction, and the uniquely conceived To no Mori, where ceramic works by 29 artists are displayed in a woodland setting that makes use of the natural terrain.
At the adjacent Kasama Kougei no Oka KASAMA Craft Hills, even beginners can join pottery experiences such as wheel throwing and hand-building under the guidance of instructors. Enjoy the feel of the clay, immerse yourself in making something with focus, and discover the appeal of traditional crafts.
