Tachimachi Cape, jutting out to the southeast of Mount Hakodate and facing the Tsugaru Strait, features a dramatic landscape with a 30-meter-high sheer cliff, surrounded by the sea. This scenic spot offers stunning views, including the opposite Shimokita Peninsula on clear days, and a panoramic vista of Hakodate's cityscape.

In summer, the cape is known for its blooms of the Hokkaido representative flower, Rosa rugosa (Hamanasu), which adorns the area with lovely pink blossoms. Nearby, the "Hamanasu" rest area offers a variety of seasonal treats like soft ice cream, drinks, grilled corn, baked potatoes, jumbo franks, soba noodles, oden, scallop skewers, and whelk. The taste of these seafood skewers by the coast is exceptional.

The grandeur of Tachimachi Cape has inspired various novels and stories. It is also a literary pilgrimage site, as the famous modern Japanese poets, Tekkan and Akiko Yosano, visited here, commemorated by a monument dedicated to them.
