Hakuryuen Garden

Located at the foot of An'yoji Temple in Ninose, before reaching Kurama and Kibune, Hakuryuen Garden spans a vast area of approximately 15,000 tsubo (about 50,000 square meters) on a mountain slope, featuring a beautifully landscaped Japanese garden in harmony with nature.

The garden, opened in 1963, is maintained by Kyoto's apparel manufacturer, Aono Co., Ltd. The founder, upon acquiring the land, learned of a legend associated with the area and decided to restore the once desolate mountain. Within the garden, shrines and torii gates are dedicated to the mountain's deities, the god of longevity, Shirahige Daimyojin, and the god of business prosperity, Hachidai Ryuo.

The garden, created without professional gardeners but with the help of employees, their families, and local residents, features moss-covered stone steps, red-painted arched bridges, and five gazebos, each offering unique views, allowing visitors to enjoy the serenity away from the hustle and bustle of the city across the seasons.

Normally inaccessible, the garden is open to the public by reservation only for 100 people per day during the cherry blossom season in spring and the autumn foliage season. Outside of these special open periods, the garden can also be rented for tea parties, photo shoots, and other events.
