Kaiyodo Figure Museum Kurokabe Ryuyukan
A museum of figures produced by the world-renowned figure maker Kaiyodo.
Model kits, anime girl figures, even works of art—Kaiyodo’s craftsmanship shows up in every corner of its lineup. Here, that world comes together in a museum devoted to figures created by Kaiyodo.
It opened in 2005 in Kurokabe Square, a tourist spot that makes use of the traditional buildings in Nagahama’s historic downtown, as the world’s first figure museum. The museum was later renovated in 2020, making the experience even more substantial. Many visitors stop by each day to see Kaiyodo’s quality for themselves.
In the permanent exhibition area, more than 4,000 works created over 40+ years—from the early days of figure-making to the latest releases—are introduced across five galleries.
Highlights for fans include Gallery 1, which traces Kaiyodo’s history through early works, and Gallery 2, which spotlights familiar character figures.
On the second floor, the special exhibition room also lets you experience an unseen world through box dioramas.
As a special perk, visitors receive a figure or a pin badge. Use the commemorative admission coin you’re given at entry to try your luck at a capsule-toy machine—one of the playful touches waiting around the museum.
