Toyako Visitor Center

Standing along the shores of Lake Toya, the Toyako Visitor Center serves as a hub for sharing information about the surrounding area. The information desk provides details on walking trails, hiking courses, and nature observation points, making it a must-visit spot before exploring the region.

The exhibition area features large aerial photographs and interactive displays that showcase the natural beauty of Lake Toya. Visitors can also learn about the lake’s history and cultural significance.

Within the facility, the Volcano Science Museum offers an in-depth look at Mount Usu, an active volcano located on the southern side of the lake. The museum presents information on past eruptions and current volcanic activity, with exhibits including an actual light truck that was damaged during an eruption. Visitors can experience the power of volcanic eruptions through simulation devices and high-impact video presentations, offering a firsthand look at their history and mechanisms.
