Diorama Kyoto JAPAN

A stunning miniature city where a variety of trains race through scenes that look just like the real thing!

Last update :

Located in Kyoto’s Ukyo Ward, right next to Torokko Saga Station and JR Saga-Arashiyama Station, Diorama Kyoto JAPAN is one of the largest railway diorama theme parks in western Japan. Opened in 2011 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Sagano Scenic Railway, the park features a meticulously crafted miniature world depicting Kyoto’s famous temples, shrines, and cityscapes-such as Kiyomizu-dera, Kinkaku-ji, and Toji’s five-storied pagoda-through which model trains run.

Visitors can even operate Shinkansen and limited express model trains themselves using a mascon (master controller), the same type used in real train driver’s cabins. The park also hosts a celestial show where stars are projected onto the ceiling to recreate a nighttime cityscape. As the train lights switch on, the vast diorama is illuminated, creating a magical and atmospheric scene.
