Kanbun Godendo Main Store
A specialty shop in Inaniwa udon made with traditional methods, located in Inaniwa-machi, Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture.
Kanbun Godendo Main Store is located in Inaniwa, Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture, the birthplace of Inaniwa udon. Established in 1973, this specialty shop produces most of its noodles by hand with skilled craftsmanship. Here, you can enjoy firm and chewy Inaniwa udon made much the same way as when it first originated in 1665.
One of the most popular menu items is the “Two Noodles, Three Flavors Udon with Tempura.” It comes with two types of noodles, fresh and dried. For dipping sauces, you can compare three flavors: bonito broth, sesame sauce (plum sauce in summer), and miso sauce. The menu also includes “Inaniwa somen,” made using the same method as the udon. In addition, the shop on the same premises sells a variety of products, including the fermented sweet “1665 (Ichirokurokugo).”
The shop is housed in a wooden building that incorporates traditional Japanese design elements. The interior has a warm feel, with wood as the main theme. The area around the shop is surrounded by rich nature. In spring, the cherry blossoms at the former Inaniwa Elementary School and, in fall, the autumn leaves at Oyasukyo Onsen attract visitors.
