Oshokujidokoro Shimomura

Oshokujidokoro Shimomura is a restaurant in Ono City, Fukui Prefecture. It is also known as the birthplace of shoyu katsudon. A soy sauce-based sauce developed with a local soy sauce maker is one of its signature features. Along with shoyu katsudon, it serves a wide variety of dishes and is loved by the local community.

The signature shoyu katsudon features cabbage and tonkatsu over rice, topped with grated daikon radish, green onions, and shiso leaves. It is enjoyed by pouring warm soy sauce over it when eating, with a savory aroma and the fresh texture of vegetables. The menu also includes Borga rice, Echizen City's soul food, as well as Chinese dishes. There is also a wide selection of à la carte dishes for adults and local sake.

Inside, there are Approx. 30 seats in total, including table seating and tatami seating. With a menu that offers choices to suit different tastes, it is used by everyone from families with children to seniors. Since it is located near sightseeing spots such as Echizen Ono Castle, many visitors stop by to try the region’s specialty dishes.
