This botanical garden in Taihaku Ward, Sendai, displays around 1,100 kinds of plants, mainly wild plants from the Tohoku region. Its spacious Approx. 9.5 ha grounds are divided into zones such as aquatic plants, seaside plants, medicinal herbs, alpine plants, and streamside and deep mountain plants, where you can observe a wide variety of seasonal flowers throughout the year.

Seasonal flowers such as katakuri, primroses, hydrangeas, yamayuri lilies, and bush clover are abundant, and the autumn “Bush Clover Festival” is especially well known. Around 1,300 bush clover plants are planted in the garden, and concerts and tea ceremonies are also held to coincide with the blooming season.

The garden also features a lawn plaza centered around a large zelkova tree, Donguri Hill where you can collect acorns, and a sculpture plaza with artworks, making it a pleasant place for a leisurely walk. At the entrance, the “Yasokan” has a small specimen room and also hosts a variety of exhibitions and classes. There is also a light meal cafe where you can take a break after your stroll. The garden is open from March 20 to November 30 and closes during winter, but the Yasokan is open year-round.
