Nagoya Castle Spring Festival
Nagoya Castle Cherry Blossom Festival
Enjoy spring at Nagoya Castle, with about 900 cherry trees in full bloom across the grounds.
A cherry blossom event is held at Nagoya Castle every year from late March to early April. With around 10 varieties and about 900 cherry trees blooming in and around the castle, visitors can enjoy the dignified castle scenery and the vibrant spring landscape. The blossoms include a wide range of types, such as Somei Yoshino, weeping cherry, and mountain cherry. At peak bloom, a spectacular view unfolds, with the blossoms standing out against the Kinshachi, the golden tiger-fish roof ornaments that symbolize Nagoya Castle.
During the period, the event is held as the “Spring Festival,” featuring traditional performing arts, tea gatherings, concerts, and special public viewings of Important Cultural Property structures, letting visitors experience history and culture up close along with the cherry blossoms. Many family-friendly events are also offered, including festival games and food booths where visitors can fully enjoy springtime flavors.
At night, illuminations are also held, creating a magical atmosphere as the rows of trees along the moat and the castle structures are lit up. Food stalls and kitchen trucks also appear, offering foods and sweets that are perfect companions for cherry blossom viewing.
