The Yanagibashi Central Market, known as one of the largest private central markets in Japan and playing the role of the "kitchen of the Tokai region," has a core wholesale center that has been serving since its opening in 1969. As a commercial wholesale market, it delivers ingredients meticulously selected by food professionals to a wide range of dining establishments, from sushi bars and traditional Japanese restaurants to hotels. The market is particularly renowned for its local seafood like sea bream, sea bass, yellowtail, and abalone, mainly caught in the Chita Peninsula, Mikawa Bay, and Ise Bay, often sold alive for exceptional freshness.

The market also caters to the needs of general customers, offering the opportunity to purchase these fresh ingredients at wholesale prices. Informal market tours are held on Fridays and Saturdays, where the president himself explains and guides through the center, allowing for shopping as well.
