Kirakira Slope (Hyogo)
A walking spot in Ako Misaki with a stone-paved slope and views of the Seto Inland Sea.
Located in Ako Misaki, the seaside area of Ako City in Hyogo Prefecture, Kirakira Slope is a stone-paved path that leads from beyond the grounds of Iwatsuhime Shrine down to the Seto Inland Sea. The gentle slope is lined with stone paving, and some parts are decorated with mosaic tiles, making it a peaceful place for a stroll.
This slope was redeveloped from what was originally a concrete staircase, and because some of the stones appear to be heart-shaped, many visitors enjoy taking photos here. From partway up the slope and from the bottom, you can look out over the Seto Inland Sea, and the view of the buildings lined up against the sea is especially memorable.
The surrounding area is dotted with sights unique to Ako Misaki, including Iwatsuhime Shrine, known as a shrine for matchmaking, as well as Oishi Nagori no Matsu Pine and Tatami Rock. There are also cafes, gelato shops in renovated vacant houses, and places where you can try glass crafts, making it fun to stop by during your walk. Since each shop has different business days and hours, it is best to check before your visit.
