Togagawa Park
A riverside park in central Kobe, known for its clear river and beautiful rows of cherry trees in spring.
This riverside park runs along the Togagawa River in Nada Ward, Kobe. Though it is located in the city, the area has preserved a clear waterside environment and is also known as a river where sweetfish live. Along the walking path is a pond with carp, and visitors may also spot wild birds, making it a place where nature feels close at hand.
A walking path continues along the river, letting visitors enjoy the waterside scenery as they stroll. In addition to benches and open spaces, the park also has areas with playground equipment, making it useful for taking a break during a walk or as a place for children to play.
In spring, rows of cherry trees line the river, drawing many visitors as one of Kobe’s leading cherry blossom spots. Cherry blossoms bloom from around Hanshin Railway’s Oishi Station to the area near the Hankyu Railway overpass, and the view with Nagamine-yama in the Rokko mountain range in the background is another highlight unique to this area. During the blooming season, the Nada Sakura Festival is also held, adding to the lively atmosphere.
At the same time, the Togagawa River is also known for sudden rises in water level depending on the weather. When visiting, be sure to check the weather and follow posted guidance so you can enjoy a safe stroll by the water.
