Sekkakei Gorge

Located in Okuhino Prefectural Natural Park in western Tottori Prefecture, this gorge is home to granite rock formations of all sizes shaped by erosion, including rugged mountainsides and the 15-meter-high Shishi-iwa Rock.

The gorge stretches Approx. 12 km from north to south, with the confluence of the Hino River and the Iwami River marking its boundary. Along with its dynamic scenery, don't miss the appeal of the flowers woven into the natural landscape.

In spring, cherry blossoms bloom alongside many varieties of azaleas, while early summer brings fresh greenery and wisteria that create a vibrant atmosphere. The autumn foliage is especially magnificent and considered one of the finest in the prefecture. The best time to see the fall colors is usually from early November to mid-November, when the trees on the mountainsides turn red and the entire gorge is painted in vivid color, creating a truly moving scene.

You can enjoy these seasonal floral landscapes while taking a leisurely walk along the well-maintained path by the gorge, or ride through by taxi or rental car and take in the spectacular views from the window.
