A spiritual spot in the sky enshrining the deity of victory and happiness.

Supervised by :  宗教法人阿賀神社

Located halfway up Mount Akagami in Higashiomi, Shiga Prefecture, this shrine boasts a long history dating back Approx. 1,400 years. It is said that Prince Shotoku, Saicho, and Minamoto no Yoshitsune worshipped here, and it has long attracted deep devotion as a great deity believed to grant victory and happiness.

The shrine grounds stretch across the mountainside, and the approach leading to the main hall offers beautiful seasonal scenery throughout the year. The view from the observation deck is especially stunning, with a panoramic view over the cityscape of Higashiomi. Near the deck are the Meoto Iwa rocks, said to have been pushed open by the power of the gods, and it is believed that if you pass through the narrow 80-centimeter gap between the rocks, your wish will come true. From the parking lot at the foot of the mountain to the main hall, you will need to climb 742 steps, so be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

In addition to traditional prayers and omamori charms available at the shrine, you can also enjoy making your own one-of-a-kind charm. Choose your favorite charm pouch from more than 150 varieties, pair it with a knot cord in your preferred color, and write down your wish. It takes Approx. 15 minutes (experience fee charged separately).
