Notogawa Waterwheel and Canoe Land

Facing Iba Naiko Lagoon in Higashiomi City, Shiga Prefecture, this spot offers views of a majestic waterwheel and scenic waterfront scenery. The symbol of the grounds is a large waterwheel with a diameter of 12 meters. Turning slowly, it blends into the surrounding landscape and creates a scene unique to this area.

The park features a grassy open space, creating a setting where you can enjoy a walk or take a break while looking out over the water. Many visitors also come to photograph the picture-perfect waterwheel, and the scenery, which changes with the seasons, is part of its appeal. In pleasant weather, many families and groups spread out picnic blankets on the lawn and spend a relaxing time here.

The grounds also include the Waterwheel Museum, which displays the mechanisms used to mill rice with the waterwheel. Visiting it along with the outdoor scenery gives you a deeper understanding of the local waterside culture. There is also a restaurant inside the museum called "LAKE SIDE Drivein," making it a convenient place for a short break.
