This approximately 923.9-meter-high mountain is one of the “100 Mountains of Gifu.” With unobstructed views to the east, the area near the summit offers sweeping views of the Nobi Plain, including Gifu City, the area around Nagoya Station, and Ise Bay. On clear days, the Japanese Alps and Mount Ontake are also visible. Along with Mount Kinka, it is also known as one of Gifu Prefecture’s top night-view spots.

In addition to a road, two hiking trails lead to the summit. Taking approximately 2 to 2.5 hours each way, they are approachable even for beginners. Hiking amid the changing seasonal scenery, including cherry blossoms in spring and colorful foliage in fall, is also recommended. Near the summit, don’t miss the approximately 2,000 Japanese stewartia trees, which are at their best from late June to early July.

With favorable terrain and wind conditions, Mount Ikeda is a popular destination for aerial sports. A hang-gliding and paragliding launch site is located at an elevation of approximately 750 meters, attracting many enthusiasts and spectators on weekends.
