Ozu Castle Stay
Be lord of the castle for a day with a private stay at Ozu Castle.
This plan fulfills a lifelong dream: living like a feudal lord. Guests can stay in the wooden keep of Ozu Castle, faithfully reconstructed using traditional techniques to recreate its appearance during the Edo period, when it stood at the heart of the Iyo-Ozu Domain.
An armored samurai and a butler will greet you at Matsuyama Airport or Matsuyama Station. Upon reaching the castle, men change into armor and women into traditional Japanese attire before reenacting the arrival of former Ozu Castle lord Kato Sadayasu. Accompanied by numerous retainers, this elaborate ceremony features authentic touches such as a celebratory volley by matchlock gunners.
Dinner is a full-course “Feudal Lord’s Meal,” featuring abundant ingredients from Ehime Prefecture nurtured by the region’s rich natural environment. The menu is a modern interpretation of dishes said to have been served to the castle lord. Bathe and enjoy an evening drink in the private lounge and bathhouse, ideally positioned with views of the keep. From spending the night in a keep built with timber over 300 years old to having G Garyu Sanso, a renowned sukiya-style villa designated as a National Important Cultural Property, all to yourself for breakfast, these exclusive experiences are sure to create lasting memories.
