Kawaguchi Highway Oasis

The Metropolitan Expressway’s first highway oasis, combining a park with plenty of options for recreation and dining.

Last update :

Surrounded by water and greenery, this relaxing destination combines a Metropolitan Expressway rest area with a park operated by Kawaguchi City. Kawaguchi Highway Oasis opened in April 2022 as the Metropolitan Expressway’s first highway oasis, created by expanding the facilities at Kawaguchi Parking Area and connecting it with IINA Park Kawaguchi.

The facility has a restaurant, café, and shop offering everything from meals and takeout to souvenirs. Specialties found here include dishes served with rice cooked in a cast-iron hagama pot made in Kawaguchi, the Metropolitan Expressway’s original SHUTO COFFEE, and SHUTO COFFEE Soft, authentic soft-serve ice cream made with SHUTO COFFEE. Visitors can dine or take a break in a warm, wood-accented space centered around a large counter inspired by a giant tree.

ASOBooN, an indoor play area produced by Bornelund, offers a wide variety of activities, including large play structures, ride-on toys, and outdoor playground equipment. The nature-rich IINA Park Kawaguchi, also known as Akayama Historical Nature Park, features a large pond and abundant greenery, along with playground equipment such as the Fluffy Dome, where children can jump and bounce.

In addition to dining and shopping during a highway trip, visitors can stroll through the park or play with their children, spending their time however they choose. The facility is also accessible from local roads, making it a destination in its own right rather than simply a place to stop during a drive.
