All Reviews of Kansai International Airport

Most people traveling to Japan’s Kansai region are probably familiar with Kansai International Airport! It’s an important transportation gateway to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and other destinations, as well as the starting point for many people’s trips to Japan. Every time I arrive at the airport, I feel especially excited. Just thinking about the journey ahead makes me look forward to all the interesting things I might encounter!

Kansai International Airport has quite a few stores to browse, offering everything from popular Japanese souvenirs and all kinds of snacks and cookies to cosmetics, drugstore products, and specialty items.

For many people traveling to Osaka, Kansai International Airport is the starting and ending point of the trip. Floating on Osaka Bay, this international airport was the world's first offshore airport built entirely on reclaimed land, and it is also an important gateway connecting Japan with the rest of the world.

The restaurants, duty-free shops, and retail areas have changed quite a bit from before, and the overall environment is brighter and more convenient. There is also a lot of automated equipment for immigration and customs inspections. This time, the process was very quick and smooth. The airport's free Wi-Fi also worked very well, which is a big plus for travelers.

You can also connect directly to JR and Nankai trains as soon as you get off the plane, without spending extra time transferring to other transportation. It's really convenient for first-time visitors to Osaka!

When I left Osaka in January this year, I watched the sunset at the airport before my flight home and felt a little reluctant to leave. The sunset that day felt so peaceful that I couldn't help telling myself, “I definitely have to come back next time.”

I never expected those words to actually come true this December. I've already bought my plane ticket, and this time I'm ready to fully enjoy Osaka and eat plenty of good food, making up for all the places I didn't get to visit last time.

The airport itself may not be much of an attraction, but sometimes that's how travel is. A sunset you happen to see can stay in your memory for a long time. Watching the sky slowly turn orange-red was so, so beautiful. 🌅

I also really like this feeling—when you're leaving a city, but you're already looking forward to seeing it again.

Kansai International Airport is the gateway most commonly used for travel to the Kansai region. Whenever I visit Osaka, Kyoto, or other nearby areas, I pass through here. The souvenir shops after immigration now have self-service kiosks. Just follow the on-screen instructions to select the gifts you want and complete payment, then a staff member will hand you your items. The whole process is simple and efficient. However, I personally still prefer the traditional way of displaying food products.

I also recommend stopping by LA PAN, a famous Kobe bakery, before going through immigration to pick up some of its popular shokupan bread to enjoy on the plane or at home.

As the gateway to Osaka, this airport has quite a few great restaurants, including the famous 551 buns and Kamukura ramen. They're both super delicious. The restrooms are also very clean. If you're going to Kyoto, take the HARUKA. The seats are a little small, but still very comfortable.

Kansai International Airport is the most important international airport in Japan's Kansai region and a major gateway to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe. Known for its convenient transportation and excellent facilities, the airport has plenty of duty-free shops, souvenir areas, restaurants, and lounges. Travelers can easily shop for Japanese specialties such as wagashi, snacks, cosmetics, and drugstore products. JR trains, Nankai Railway, buses, and ferries provide convenient access to major cities throughout Kansai.

I noticed something new as soon as I arrived at Kansai International Airport! A lot of the processes have gone digital now, and they’re simple and intuitive to use. Overall, immigration and customs felt much more efficient.
Based on my experience this time, getting through arrivals really did feel faster than before. I had my luggage in no time and was ready to start my trip in Japan, which instantly put me in a great travel mood!

I plan a trip to Japan every year, and I’ve visited Osaka Airport several times already. Entering Japan again this year, I could clearly feel that immigration efficiency had improved. With paper and electronic declarations separated into different lines, the waiting time was much shorter, and the arrival process was smoother, giving the trip a great start.

However, the airport’s duty-free souvenir area has shifted mainly to ordering electronically on computers. While the shopping process is more efficient, it does take away some of the fun of picking items by hand and browsing slowly for little finds, which is a bit of a shame.

Overall, Osaka Airport is becoming more and more convenient, and it’s still one of my favorite international airports in Japan.

A lot of flights arrive at the same time, so the passport control line for foreigners was really long. It took almost two hours to get through immigration. I've been to Osaka many times, but this issue never seems to get better.
