Tanukikoji Shopping Street
Tanuki Koji Shopping Street, with over 145 years of history is one of Hokkaido’s oldest shopping streets. It’s located in the center of Sapporo, stretching 900 meters from east to west with some 200 different shops. It has an arcade-style covered roofing, meaning you can enjoy shopping, dining, or an easy stroll no matter what the weather.
Tanukikoji Shopping Street has lots of duty-free shops, making it a great place for foreign visitors to shop.
Maruyama Park (Kyoto)
The oldest park in Kyoto, built on land once owned by temples and shrines. It is located across the Shijo Ohashi Bridge from Kawaramachi and straight down the Gion shopping street on Shijo Dori Street. From the Shijo Ohashi Bridge, pass the Keihan Gion-Shijo Station and continue along the shopping street, and you will see Yasaka Shrine in front of you.
Whether it's cherry blossom season or autumn leaves, Maruyama Park is a paradise for photography lovers.
JR Shimonada Station
This train station is wonderfully-located with a grand view over Iyo-nada Sea. It was used for a number of movies, TV dramas and JR’s posters. During the day, the sunlight is reflected on the dazzling ocean. You will never forget the sunset turning the Sea into bright orange.
This is the closest unmanned station to the sea in Japan, and the ocean view is just unbeatable. Watching the golden sunset over the water was absolutely mesmerizing... I was totally captivated.
Hankyu Oimachi Garden
A landmark mixed-use complex just steps from JR Oimachi Station. It features Hotel Hours Inn Hankyu (Single Wing,Twin Wing), Hankyu Department Store Oi Food Hall, shops for everyday needs, restaurants, cafes, the super sento Orofuro no Ousama, and unique tenants such as tennis and golf schools.
I stayed at the Hankyu hotel on a trip, and I went to the food hall downstairs all the time.
What puzzled me was that there isn’t a Hankyu train line here.
Sanja Matsuri
Sanja Matsuri is around the 3rd Saturday in May, lasting from Friday to Sunday in Asakusa, Tokyo. Residents call it Sanja sama. Each year, about 1.8 million visitors watch this prominent 3-day festival in Japan.
Huge crowds of visitors pack the streets, making it feel almost impossible to move, but you really get to experience the lively spirit and charm of the people of Edo.
