Jodogahama Beach
"Jodogahama" is a rock inlet facing the Sanriku coast, a representative scenic spot of Japan. Around 1680, the name is said to have originated when Reikyo, a Buddhist monk, upon seeing its white rock beach, beautifully clear sea, and otherworldly complex terrain, exclaimed that it was reminiscent of the "Pure Land Paradise".
After 4 hours on the Shinkansen plus a bus ride, I finally made it to Jodogahama Beach. It felt like a paradise.
There were very few tourists, so it was super relaxing. Walking through this hidden gem, zoning out and just taking it all in, was such a chill experience. Definitely a hidden spot in Japan that’s worth visiting.
