"Jodogahama" is a rock inlet facing the Sanriku coast, a representative scenic spot of Japan. Around 1680, the name is said to have originated when Reikyo, a Buddhist monk, upon seeing its white rock beach, beautifully clear sea, and otherworldly complex terrain, exclaimed that it was reminiscent of the "Pure Land Paradise".

The coastline, formed by the dynamic interplay of sea and earth, lets you feel the power of nature with its overwhelming grandeur. The unique rock formations, formed about 52 million years ago, make up many breathtaking viewing spots, each named individually. Particularly popular among these is the "Blue Cave". Inside, the sunlight interacts with the crystal-clear seawater, creating a mesmerizing blue space where you can experience the mysterious energy of nature.

You can enjoy the beautiful landscape of Jodogahama by walking the well-maintained deck trail of the inlet or viewing it from the observation deck of the "Jodogahama Rest House". There's also a popular thrilling activity where you can board a small traditional fishing boat called "Sappa boat", allowing you to venture deep into the "Blue Cave" and experience the unique rock formations up close.
