Kabukicho
Kabukicho is the entertainment district that sits just steps from the east exit of Shinjuku Station. It’s a major hub for izakaya pubs, amusement centers and nightlife spots to enjoy after hours. With neon signs lit up through the entire night, it’s earned the nickname of “the city that never sleeps”.
With the giant Godzilla watching over, Kabukicho should be pretty safe, right? 🤭
Shinjuku Golden Gai
A traditional, retro-style bar district in Shinjuku's Kabukicho, where about 300 wooden row-house style shops line the narrow alleyways. Renowned for offering an intimate encounter with Japanese culture.
Personally, I think this is the most atmospheric spot in Shinjuku, even though it's a bit quiet during the pandemic.
Hope it goes back to how it used to be someday. 🙏
Tokyo Meat Shabu-Shabu House
At our renowned shabu-shabu restaurant, customers can savor Japanese black beef brands, including the Tajima Ota Beef gotten from a rare breed of cow that cannot be found on the common market with only 600 cows made available for circulation annually.
The meat was a bit too fatty for my taste, so I couldn't really get used to it... But the atmosphere was pretty nice!
Tama Zoological Park
This zoo, one of the largest in the world exceeding 50 hectares, allows visitors to see about 300 species of animals, from ants to elephants. Located in the Tama Hills, walking around the park gives the feeling of hiking in a nature park.
The zoo is really spacious—you could easily spend a whole day here. But be prepared, there are a lot of hills, so walking around can get pretty tiring...
