The vibe is really nice. As soon as you walk in, it feels lively—exactly like a classic Japanese izakaya.

The staff are pretty friendly, and the food comes out at a reasonable pace. There are lots of options, the seafood is super fresh, and the flavors aren’t too heavy, so everything goes down easy.

Whether it’s grilled items, fried dishes, or bar snacks, it’s great for sharing with a group. It really feels like a fun get-together while you eat and chat.

Overall, it’s an easygoing spot with a great atmosphere—perfect for friends or family. If you want somewhere lively and reliable, I’d definitely recommend this place 👍👍

Oshino Hakkai – The 8 Springs of Oshino

Oshino Hakkai is the collective name for Mt. Fuji’s 8 natural ponds, Deguchi-ike, Okama-ike, Sokonashi-ike, Choshi-ike, Waku-ike, Nigori-ike, Kagami-ike and Shobu-ike. Once a former lake, the area has dried up and formed the 8 spring-sourced ponds that remain today.

There were so many loud tour groups from mainland China, especially women shouting while shopping like it was a market. The men just gathered together, walking around and smoking.

The Mt. Fuji climbing route is super popular. Even at the 5th Station, I saw lots of different groups, all geared up and ready to go.

Shimoda Park

With one sweep of the eye, take in the view of Shimoda’s streets and port from Shimoda Park. Tsutsuji azaleas bloom in the spring, hydrangeas blossom in early summer, and camellias reach full bloom in the winter.

Gora Kadan

Gora Kadan is a traditional Japanese hotel built on the land where the former summer residence of Kain’in no Miya Imperial Prince Kotohito used to be. It is located in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, within Gora Onsen, a famous hot spring resort area. Hida Takayama Old Townscape is said to be a town where the original landscape of Japan remains, as the streets from the Edo period still remain, and the charming town houses and noren (curtains) of old stores continue to be seen.

The old streets and alleys are still there, but most of the houses have been turned into shops or places to eat. It's a bit of a shame that the original atmosphere is gone.
