A really charming place. You can take a walk by the harbor, enjoy the flowers at Yamashita Park, shop at MARK IS, eat in Chinatown, ride the Ferris wheel to watch the sunset, and even take the ropeway across the water!
The best part is that it’s not as crowded as Tokyo. No wonder it has ranked among the top three places Japanese people most want to live for so many years!

Togakushi Shrine
Amanoiwato mythology has been passed on here and this shrine with over 2000 years of history has been the training place in mountain worshipping since around AD 850. Hokosha Hall at the bottom of the mountain, Hinomikosha, Chusha, Okusha, and Kuzuryusha Halls consist of Togakushi. The whole Mt.Togakushi has been sanctified as a holy place, a power spot that attracts visitors.
Togakushi Shrine is a place that’s absolutely worth visiting. It’s a famous spiritual power spot, and even from the photos, it feels like it has a very strong energy! Once you enter the shrine grounds, it really feels like stepping into another world. Definitely, definitely worth the trip.
The only downside is that this area has a lot of bear sightings, so be aware of your surroundings while walking there! -
