Whenever I see Calbee Jagarico potato sticks while browsing a supermarket in Japan, I can't resist grabbing a cup. Unlike regular potato chips, which are thin and crispy, these are short potato sticks with a firm, crunchy texture, and the more you chew, the more you can taste the potato flavor. What I like most is how convenient they are to carry, and the cup packaging makes them perfect for snacking while traveling. After getting tired from shopping, I'll sit down to rest and open a cup, then find myself eating one after another. I usually think, “I'll just have a few,” but before I know it, the cup is almost empty.

Besides the flavors sold in regular supermarkets, there are also special regional varieties. For example, the Calbee store on Kokusai Street in Okinawa sells an exclusive purple sweet potato flavor. They're fried fresh to order and served hot, with a soft, dense texture. Worth trying.
