I’d had the instant version of AFURI before and thought it was so good! So of course, on this trip to Tokyo, I had to make a special visit to the actual restaurant.

AFURI’s signature feature is its light, refreshing broth with a yuzu aroma. It isn’t too oily, and the subtle yuzu fragrance gives the broth a lot of depth. It really gets smoother and easier to drink with every sip! The noodles are springy and chewy, and the charcoal-grilled chashu is also very flavorful. Everything goes together perfectly.

This time, I made sure to avoid the peak dining hours and got seated after waiting about 20 minutes. You buy a meal ticket first and then line up, and the whole process was very smooth.

After finishing, all I can say is that the instant noodles didn’t lie. No wonder the online reviews are so good—this bowl really is worth the pilgrimage! Plus, they’re open until 5 a.m., so if you suddenly crave ramen in the middle of the night, it’s no problem at all〜 I’d love to eat here again the next time I’m in Tokyo!
