There are truly so many places in Tohoku that make you want to visit again and again, and Towada-Hachimantai National Park is one of them. It preserves Tohoku’s most pristine and unspoiled natural scenery, with forests, streams, mountain views, and hot springs coming together to create one beautiful landscape after another.

I visited in the fall this time, just when the autumn leaves were at their most beautiful.

The entire forest was dyed in overlapping shades of red, orange, and yellow, and the scenery along the way was so beautiful that I couldn’t help stopping constantly to take photos.

This really isn’t just a place for sightseeing. There are also many famous hot springs to enjoy. Soaking in a hot spring after getting tired from walking and feeling surrounded by nature was incredibly relaxing.

There’s fresh greenery in spring, cool weather in summer, mountains covered in red leaves in fall, and a silvery-white world in winter. Each season offers completely different scenery and atmosphere.

This trip was truly worth it! It’s also the kind of place that, even after leaving, makes you think, “I definitely have to come back next time.”
