This time, I visited the Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Natural History to explore the Earth’s 4.6-billion-year history with you! The museum has an extensive collection, including meteorites, minerals, rocks, fossils, and all kinds of plant and animal specimens. It was honestly even more fascinating than I expected.
As soon as you enter the permanent exhibition area, you’ll see a huge meteorite that you can actually touch up close, which is really special! The museum has many valuable specimens, all presented with incredible attention to detail. Not only can children learn a lot, but adults will also find it fascinating.
The museum has an open design with high ceilings, and you can see exhibitions on different themes from the first through third floors. The third floor also introduces local wildlife and fossils from Kanagawa, so it’s worth taking your time and looking closely.
There’s also a restaurant inside, which is perfect for taking a break when you get tired from walking around. There’s a theater nearby as well, and apparently it has different screenings every day. If you’re interested, you can check the schedule in advance.
Overall, this isn’t just a place to look at exhibits—it feels more like a journey through time and space to explore the Earth! Whether you’re traveling with children, love dinosaur fossils, or are interested in natural science, I highly recommend stopping by.
