Last update :

The Benesse House Museum opened in 1992 as a combination museum and hotel. Based on the idea of “coexistence between nature, architecture, and art,” the pieces are not only installed in the exhibition areas, but also throughout the entire building. Some pieces are even scattered about the coastline and forest surrounding the museum, so taking a stroll to look at them can be a fun activity.

The building was designed by architect Tadao Ando. It is built on a hill that overlooks the Seto Inland Sea, and its structure helps to guide the island’s nature inside through its large open areas.

There is also a restaurant and café inside where you can eat while you look at the art or out over the Seto Inland Sea, so you can enjoy a meal in a stunning location.
