Built in November 2001 in a residential area of Higashi-Osaka City, adjacent to Shiba Ryotaro's actual residence, the building was designed by Tadao Ando and consists of a single concrete structure.
It is a simple gently curving structure with one basement floor and two above-ground floors, and is a must-see, especially the large 11-meter-high, three-story atrium bookcase that unfolds in the new part of the building designed by Tadao Ando.

From the garden, which was created in the image of a wooded area that Shiba Ryotaro loved, you can see his study up close, with his desk, fountain pen, and colored pencils that he used for writing. You can also enjoy looking at a monument to his literary works.

On top of the twice yearly special exhibitions, the 150-seat hall hosts events such as lectures, music concerts, and movie nights. The museum also offers a wide variety of original goods featuring Shiba Ryotaro's own handwritten titles and paintings.
