Club HARIE J’oublie le temps

This bakery run by Club HARIE, the popular confectionery known for its Baum-kuchen and other treats. The baker behind it all, Chef Imai, has won awards at baking competitions and is known for serving up a wide lineup of anything from harder breads and stuffed buns to dessert pastries, everyday loaves and more. Every bread he bakes is made with extra care for the ingredients, yeast and rising, without any shortcuts.

Every step of the baking process has an obvious touch of extra love. The stone oven itself and all of its parts were brought in directly from Spain and hand-built by a local Spanish artisan. The firebricks in the oven emit special heat waves that bake the bread form its core, creating perfect bites that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

You can buy your bread here and enjoy it on the 1st floor terrace or 2nd floor deck area. The 2nd floor is especially nice for its resort vibes and coveted views looking out over Lake Biwa.

The second floor is also home to a café space where you can find hot sandwiches with Omi Chicken and seasonal vegetables, scone sandwiches, beef stew, original pastries and more. Come to this lakeside bakery and café for a time away like none other.
