The former Manabe Elementary was broken down and moved to be built as an inn, renovated each year.
The inn stands by the shore of the Seto Inland Sea. The former Manabe-shima Elementary School was broken apart and moved to the current location, opened in 1966, and renovated each year as it operates.
Their seafood menu is famous for the fish caught daily in the nearby sea and vegetables from their home garden. Some visit yearly to enjoy their menu.
The main building, a renovated elementary school, houses western-style and Japanese-style rooms as well as a home-made log house. Watch the ocean and have a luxurious time without “having to do anything.”
You can also view the Seto Inland Sea while you are in the bath. From the lookout bath on the 2nd floor of the main building, you can see the islands floating in the sea. The owner has handmade Tide Hot Spring Bath (reservation recommended) which offers time to be one with the ocean before you, warming up your heart and body. Coffee and tea are prepared in the lounge for relaxing after a bath.
The inn has a dedicated bridge where you can charter a cruise ship or fishing boat, if you prefer active leisure.
